CityScapes – Light Space & Time art competition

I entered another Light Space & Time art competition recently, the theme of which was CityScapes, and was absolutely thrilled to come second in the Photography & Digital category, while coming sixth overall. The photograph I submitted was Walking Into A Dream, which was taken a few years ago in the little alleyway between Manchester Town Hall and the Central Library.

This has been another huge boost to my photography, especially as I haven’t been able to do anything new recently owing to some ill health. I really am now looking forward to getting out with my camera once I’m back to full fitness again!

SeaScapes – Light Space & Time art competition

I’ve been neglecting photography in favour of writing lately so I’m really thrilled that one of the photographs I submitted for the April 2013 Light Space & Time art competition, SeaScapes, received a Special Merit award. The photograph I submitted was of the Grand Hotel and promenade at Llandudno, taken from the end of the pier.

This has been a wonderful encouragement for my photography and will hopefully give me the prod I need to start focussing on it properly again and devoting as much time to it as my writing from now on.

The Amazing Rain – Litro Magazine

Blimey, it’s been a while since I last posted… My day job has been very busy of late, although I’ve now finished for my Christmas break, which I’m extremely pleased about! I hope to spend at least part of my holiday writing and sorting out some photographs.

November was also a busy writing month for me and I’m absolutely delighted that one of those stories has been published today, in the December 2012 “Magic” edition of Litro Magazine.

Litro is available to buy in various stockists around London but they also publish all the stories from the magazine online too, so you can read mine if you wish. If you do read it, I really hope you enjoy it.

Photography: Tree with early morning sun

I’ve been neglecting my photography in favour of writing lately, but yesterday was a lovely autumnal day (and for once not raining… ) so we took the dog for a long walk in the park opposite our house and I took my camera. I was really pleased with one of the images I took. I’m also quite taken with the colour version, so may also add that to my photography website in due course.

FEAR: A Modern Anthology Of Horror And Terror

On 3 October 2012, my short story, ‘The Sad Story of the Death of a King’, was published in FEAR: A Modern Anthology Of Horror And Terror Volume 2.  The tale centres on three young boys who encounter something quite unexpected while out trick or treating on Hallowe’en…

‘Sad Story’ is the first piece of writing I have submitted to a publisher for many years so I was both totally surprised and absolutely thrilled when it was accepted. Holding an actual book in my hands, with my work in it, is a truly wonderful feeling and I really hope it’s something I get to experience again.

And just to make things even sweeter, my partner Raymond also had a story accepted for the anthology. His ghostly tale, ‘Hurbane Wulf’, is in Volume 1.

FEAR is published by the lovely folk at Crooked Cat Publishing and all the proceeds are going to two very worthy charities: Barnardo’s and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
